About Fuel Smarter

Fuel Smarter is a free tool that helps drivers understand the true cost of any car journey — not just the price at the pump, but how speed, road type, vehicle choice, and driving style all affect what you actually spend.

We built Fuel Smarter because most fuel calculators are too simple. They ask for a distance and spit out a number. But real journeys are more complex — a motorway cruise at 70mph uses fuel very differently to stop-start urban driving, and driving at 80mph costs meaningfully more than 70mph, even if it only saves a few minutes.

We wanted to make those trade-offs visible, so drivers can make genuinely informed decisions.

Fuel Smarter is and will always be free to use. We don't require an account, we don't track you, and we don't sell your data. If we ever add advertising it will be clearly labelled and non-intrusive.

We're working on a global fuel prices hub with live data and historical charts, an environmental impact section exploring how driving choices affect emissions, and country-specific guides for drivers around the world. We're also planning to integrate the UK Government's Fuel Finder scheme to show you the cheapest petrol stations along your route.
